Rochester Americans Projected Roster

Here is the projected roster for the Amerks.

Projections are based on the following: (1) The team will carry 14 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goalies. (2) No assumptions are made about free agents being signed until they are official.

Assumptions WILL be made about the signability of various draft picks.

Jerry D’Amigo, Cal O’Reilly, Phil Varone, Tim Schaller, Evan Rodrigues, Nick Baptiste, William Carrier, Justin Bailey, Jason Akeson, Matt Ellis and Dan Catenacci are the top forwards under contract.

The final three spots likely go to rookie Jean Dupuy, Justin Kea, and Jack Nevins, although none of these guys are likely to be major contributors.

Colin Jacobs and Allan McPherson will probably be the forward “depth” players on the roster, starting the season in Elmira but getting called up to fill in for injuries.

Jake McCabe, Matt Donovan, Jerome Leduc, Brady Austin, Bobby Sanguinetti, and Josh Chapman are the only remaining defensemen under contract at this time. This leaves the Amerks short 1 player from where they’d like to be, and with Chapman signed only to an AHL deal, the team may be in the market for yet another defenseman to give Chapman time to mature in the ECHL.

Nathan Lieuwen and Andrey Markov are currently tagged as the tandem in Rochester this season, although this would leave the organization VERY thin between the pipes if something were to happen to the injury-prone Robin Lehner or Chad Johnson in Buffalo, and Lieuwen needs to prove that he’s ready to play after multiple concussions. Another goalie signing may be in the works.
